What you will do:
As the Lead Contract Specialist, you will play a critical role in enabling commercial growth while protecting the company’s legal and business interests. You’ll serve as a trusted contracting partner to sales leadership and legal counsel, owning complex agreements from initial drafting through negotiation and execution across your assigned business and/or geographic region.
Working cross-functionally with Legal, Sales, Finance, and Operations, you will guide internal stakeholders through high-impact contracting decisions, identify and mitigate legal and business risk, and deliver practical, solutions-oriented outcomes in a fast-paced environment. In this role, you’ll exercise sound judgment, influence without authority, and represent Stryker professionally in all internal and external engagements.
You will also act as a subject-matter expert and mentor within the contracting team, supporting the development of less-experienced professionals while helping to elevate contracting best practices across the organization.
Draft, edit, review, and negotiate complex agreements with minimal supervision, in a manner that manages business and legal risk while effectively supporting our internal and external customers in a timely manner in a fast-paced environment;
Provide excellent, time-sensitive, solutions-oriented, strategic contracting support to internal and external stakeholders;
Exhibit solid negotiation skills, including comfort in negotiating contract terms with customers;
Build and maintain strong relationships with sales, finance, operations, and attorney stakeholders across the decentralized organization (as applicable);
Serve as a contracting and negotiating expert to other areas within the organization, as required;
Supervise and set direction for other Contract Specialists (if applicable).
Lead and mentor less-experienced contracting professionals, including provision of subject matter expertise on complex contracting issues;
Exercise excellent judgment in identifying and escalating issues to management and/or for legal review in a timely manner;
Maintains a comprehensive knowledge of Stryker’s product lines, competitive environment, and customers to better support functional initiatives and provide recommendations to internal stakeholders;
Monitor and track status of contract-related matter and proactively provide updates as requested.
What you’ll need
Required
A Bachelor’s Degree is required for this role, however in lieu of a degree, an additional 6 years of work experience will be considered.
4+ years of work experience with contracts
4+ years of experience drafting and reviewing documentation
3+ years of experience with direct contract negotiations
Preferred
3+ years of work experience working in healthcare contracts
Paralegal certification strongly preferred
Experience working with the Uniform Commercial Code is strongly preferred
Salesforce experience
$89,300 - $193,400 salary plus bonus eligible + benefits. Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
