About the Role
As the Lead Business Development, you will guide market strategy and drive growth within the Gas Distribution & Storage (GDS) industrial segment in Ohio. You will work closely with industrial customers, helping them succeed while expanding business opportunities and strengthening long?term relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Develop and implement long?term account strategies for major industrial customers.
Lead the complete sales cycle—including prospecting, solution development, closing, project execution, and ongoing relationship management.
Customer Focus
Anticipate customer needs, identify emerging trends, and provide insights to internal teams.
Serve as the primary point of contact to ensure an excellent customer experience.
Cross?Functional Collaboration
Work with operations, engineering, regulatory, marketing, and customer service teams to deliver integrated, customer?centric solutions.
Team Leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop a high?performing sales team.
Set clear performance expectations and provide coaching for continuous improvement.
Performance Management
Track performance against sales targets, customer satisfaction, revenue goals, and operational efficiency.
Use data and insights to refine strategies and drive growth.
External Engagement
Represent the company at industry events, customer forums, and regulatory discussions to enhance market presence.
Who You Are
10+ years of experience in business development, preferably in utilities or the energy sector.
Strong leadership experience, including managing people or large initiatives.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, including influencing executives without formal authority.
Proven track record of meeting sales targets and achieving market growth.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Accounting, or a related field.
Familiarity with regulatory environments, industry stakeholders, and competitive landscapes.
Strong ability to see the broader customer context and create comprehensive strategies.
