**About the Role:**
We’re seeking a skilled and passionate Bike Shop Lead to oversee the daily operations of our on-site bike shops and support our campus-wide sustainable transportation initiatives. This role is the operational bridge between our Bike Mechanics and the Bike Program Manager, ensuring high-quality service, smooth workflows, and a collaborative team environment. **What You’ll Do:**
Team Leadership & Operations
• Lead day-to-day shop operations, ensuring timely maintenance and repairs.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to bike mechanics.
• Support onboarding and training of new staff.
• Monitor service quality across campus bike, employee repair, loaner bike, and marketplace programs.
• Maintain inventory, shop cleanliness, and equipment readiness.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and rebalancing staff.
• Occasionally retrieve off-campus bikes.
Bike Repair & Quality Control
• Serve as the primary mechanic for employee personal bike repairs.
• Assemble new bikes for sale and perform final safety checks.
• Ensure all repairs meet safety and quality standards.
Customer Service & Communication
• Lead front-of-house customer service and handle escalations.
• Communicate clearly with employees and clients via support tools.
Data & Reporting
• Assist in tracking service metrics and generating performance reports.
• Maintain accurate records in fleet and repair tracking systems.
Events & Program Support
• Help organize classes, community rides, and special events.
• Support new initiatives and projects led by the Bike Program Manager.
**What You Need:**
• 2–4 years of professional bicycle maintenance experience, including leadership and quality control.
• Strong mechanical skills across various bike types and technologies.
• Experience mentoring in a customer-facing environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Suite, inventory systems, and fleet tracking software (preferred).
• Passion for sustainable commuting and workplace wellness.
• Ability to ride a bike and work on-site Monday–Friday.

The compensation offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications and experience.
