Job Summary

Responsible for overseeing the design, review, and implementation of advanced concrete formwork and shoring systems, including custom solutions for complex architectural and structural challenges. Serve as a technical leader, supporting internal teams and external clients throughout the project lifecycle. 

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

Leads the development of formwork and shoring layouts using AutoCAD and Revit.

Performs and reviews structural calculations for engineering submittals.

Guides junior engineers and review peer designs for accuracy and efficiency.

Review peer designs and bills of material for accuracy and constructability.

Collaborates with sales and operations teams to provide technical input during pre-construction and active project phases.

Attends customer meetings to present and refine engineering solutions.

Provides engineering support throughout the lifecycle of each project, from concept to completion.

Conducts site visits to resolve engineering issues and gain field insights.

Ensures compliance with safety standards and building codes.

Maintains professional competency through ongoing education, certifications, and seminars.

Develops or engages/directs others in developing innovative solutions to important, highly complex strategic and operating problems; cross-departmental considerations are often present.

Work Environment

Typically located in a comfortable indoor area. There may be regular exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors, such as dust, fumes or odors, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights.

Most of the time is spent sitting in the same position or standing/walking and/or there is some requirement to lift or handle material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).

Typically requires overnight travel less than 5% of the time.

Education and Experience

Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 7+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural Engineering. EIT certification.

Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Two (2) years of supervisory or lead experience in concrete formwork or shoring engineering preferred.

5+ years of experience in formwork and shoring design.

Proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit and 3D modeling experience preferred.

Strong understanding of ACI and OSHA and building code requirements.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
