Based in Montréal, we have been helping Canadian entrepreneurs manage their small businesses for over 40 years. We offer all‑in‑one cloud solutions that simplify payroll and human capital management. Join our dynamic team and contribute to the success of local businesses.
The CGI Payroll Service Center (PSC) is continuing to integrate artificial intelligence into its products and services. In a human‑scale organizational context, our approach is iterative, secure, and value‑driven, focused on delivering robust and well‑adapted solutions. As part of this evolution, the PSC is creating a new role: AI Platform Lead, whose mission is to structure and enhance AI capabilities (both on‑premise and cloud‑based) and contribute to the delivery of concrete use cases in collaboration with IT, data, and architecture teams, as well as CGI’s various AI Practices.
Role Summary
Reporting to the Director, Data & AI Governance (IT), the AI Platform Lead is responsible for the design, implementation, and evolution of a pragmatic and scalable AI platform. They act as the technical owner of the AI platform, overseeing architecture choices, integrations, security, performance, cost management, and reliability. The role combines responsibilities in architecture, integration, and production deployment, with a strong operational, product, and technical dimension.
The ideal candidate is versatile and able to manage the full lifecycle (design → development → integration → deployment → team support).
AI Platform and Standards (implementation and evolution):
• Design, deploy, and maintain AI platform components: inference services, project templates, internal libraries, and reusable components.
• Define pragmatic standards: conventions, documentation, best practices, quality and security criteria.
• Ensure operational stability: logging, monitoring, version management, access and secret management.
• Define operational requirements.
End‑to‑end delivery of AI use cases:
• Prototype and industrialize high‑value AI use cases (e.g., assistants, document search, extraction, classification, automation), thereby contributing to increased customer value.
• Implement production‑ready solutions focused on performance, reliability, maintainability, and traceability.
• Work closely with stakeholders to frame needs, prioritize, and deliver incrementally.
Integration and operation of cloud‑based AI services:
• Integrate the platform and applications with cloud AI services (e.g., Azure OpenAI, OpenAI, Azure AI Services or equivalents).
• Design secure and compliant integrations (access control, data protection, internal compliance).
• Monitor and optimize usage costs (model selection, caching strategies, quotas, integration best practices).
Autonomy, technical leadership, and coaching:
• Work autonomously on high‑impact initiatives delivered iteratively.
• Provide technical leadership and contribute to reviews and technology direction.
• Contribute to the AI roadmap (platform evolution, automation, new use cases) in alignment with organizational priorities.
Behavioral Skills
• Results‑oriented mindset with the ability to deliver while managing multiple constraints.
• Autonomy, rigor, and strong sense of priorities.
• Ability to structure and standardize progressively (without over‑engineering).
• Strong communication and simplification skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with multiple teams.
Technical Skills
• Intermediate to senior profile: ideally 5+ years of experience in software development/engineering, including significant hands‑on experience applying AI in a production context.
• Proficiency in spoken and written French and English, required for communication with bilingual teams and for technical documentation.
• Excellent command of software development and integrations (APIs, services, processing pipelines).
• Strong proficiency in Python.
• Practical experience with AI solutions, including a significant portion of the following:
o Language models (LLMs) and API‑based integration (e.g., Azure OpenAI/OpenAI),
o RAG (embeddings, search, vector databases) and design of processing chains.
• Understanding of AI productionization: cost control, abuse prevention, security, testing, versioning, monitoring, performance management.
• Pragmatic DevOps/MLOps knowledge: CI/CD, containers (Docker), basic observability.
• Cloud knowledge (Azure preferred) and hybrid architectures (asset).
Additional Assets
• Demonstrated ability to design robust, scalable, and secure AI systems.
• Experience with hybrid architectures (on‑premise + cloud).
• Strong knowledge of APIs, microservices, and containerized environments.
• Kubernetes and orchestration experience.
• Knowledge of search services and vector databases (e.g., pgvector, Azure AI Search, Pinecone, Weaviate).
• Applied cybersecurity concepts (IAM, secrets management, segmentation, compliance).
• Experience with on‑premise infrastructures including GPUs (depending on context).
