EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

High School Diploma or GED and 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Ability to operate a forklift and man lift to approved O.S.H.A. standards

PAY RATE

$26.41 per hour with additional shift premium of $0.75.

 

 

SUMMARY 

This position requires specific knowledge of general heat treat requirements for aluminum, titanium, nickel based alloys, stainless, and alloy steels.  Must be familiar with machine shop scheduling to ensure proper sequence for product through heat treating.  Must be familiar with the operation, adjustment and routine maintenance of all furnace controllers.  Straightens metal plates, weldments, and structural shapes or preheats them preparatory to welding or bending by performing the following duties. This is a 3rd shift position with start time of 9 pm Monday through Friday. Trraining schedule may be during mornin shift.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties and responsibilities include the following, other duties may be required and assigned at any time.

The team leader will oversee 1-4 employees, within the same department, on an assigned work shift and safety.

Load and unload furnaces

Responsible for heat treat and process furnace accuracy and uniformity surveys. 

Ability to maintain attendant paperwork, logs, records, and files.

Ability to move parts on and off pallets.

Ability to read and interpret shop order instructions, specifications and other written and verbal instructions.

Turns levers to activate flow of gas, lights flame, and adjusts mixture to obtain desired size and color of flame.

Holds or guides flame along surface of work piece to heat and expand metal, to achieve specified straightness, or until color indicates sufficient heating for welding or machine straightening or bending.

Measures work piece with straightedge or template to ensure conformance with specifications.

Places work piece into heating furnace for specified period of time.

Assists with on-the-job training for heat treat department.

Schedules heat treat production loads.

Will conduct furnace probe checks and hardness inspection

Must have an understanding and knowledge of company procedures and work instructions.

Maintains a safe and organized workstation and follows all company policy, safety and procedures.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

This job does not have supervisory responsibilities
