POSITION: Part-Time Evening Practical Fire Science Lab Assistant - Barrow Campus
REPORTS TO: Fire Science Program Director
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is an evening position. Under general supervision, instructs and supervises students in the Fire Science Technology program. Assists in the delivery of program and course outlines, goals and objectives; Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives; Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area; work schedule and instructional location will be coordinated through the Program Director.
MAJOR DUTIES:
• Assist faculty members with classroom instruction, exams, record keeping, adherence to safety procedures, tracking attendance and other miscellaneous tasks related to instruction
• Tutor or mentor students
• Assist with skill checkoffs
• Prepare and clean labs as needed
• Obtain materials needed for classes, including texts and other materials
• Assist with special projects or initiatives as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
Must have Pro-Board (NPQ) Firefighter I and Firefighter II (Include a copy with your information); High school graduate or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's degree in Fire Science, Emergency Management, Healthcare Management or closely related field: Three (3) years of work experience in a closely related field: Georgia State Office of Emergency Medical Services Trauma Level I, II or III Instructor license; Experience in BANNER, Blackboard and MS Office; NFPA 1403 Live Fire Instructor; and/or previous work experience in a post-secondary educational environment.
NOTE: This is an evening temporary, part-time position that is appointed on a per-academic-term basis. This is an hourly-paid position; up to 29 hours per week while classes are in session.
