This position is designated to oversee onshore activities for a subsea-to-shore dry gas field development in northern Mozambique, delivered by a global oil and gas operator. The role will provide management and leadership at the Beach Landing Area, ensuring the safe, timely, and high-quality delivery of land preparation, excavation, civil works, foundations, pipeline and umbilical pull-ins, onshore pipeline construction, equipment installation, connection, and pre-commissioning activities aligned with defined project technical and HSEQ requirements.
Key Responsibilities Quality Leadership & Strategy Provide management and leadership for the Landfall Works location across all project phases. Ensure project elements are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and with quality standards matching a 30-year design life. Prepare and oversee readiness reviews and equipment inspections, ensuring closure of findings. Quality Compliance & Oversight Oversee contractors’ work within the Landfall Works scope, ensuring technical, quality, schedule, cost, and HSES requirements are met or improved. Coordinate with project management teams to address and resolve interface issues efficiently and cost-effectively. Ensure all activities comply with project technical specifications and fitness for purpose requirements. Project Execution Support Supervise field activities including land preparation, trenching, foundation works, pipeline and umbilical installation, and associated construction tasks. Monitor pre-commissioning, connections, and final fit-out operations along the full scope of landfall works. Support the readiness and preparedness of Afungi site teams and stakeholders for landfall construction phases. Reporting & Performance Management Maintain vigilant oversight and control of cost, schedule, and technical progress for assigned areas. Provide reporting to all stakeholders for Landfall Work activities and escalate issues presenting a significant threat to the project with mitigation proposals. Drive close-out of readiness and compliance gaps throughout the execution of the construction program. Training & Continuous Improvement Establish and foster effective working relationships with contractors and personnel, driving collaborative problem-solving. Represent the project professionally in front of third parties and outside stakeholders as required. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and cross-functional coordination within the project delivery teams. Qualifications & Experience Proven track record with at least 15 years of experience in the offshore construction industry, including landfalls and land pipelines. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent, preferably with specialization in geotechnical, civil, or mechanical engineering. Substantial experience managing onsite contractors within large-scale EPCI contracts, particularly in oil and gas field development. Key Competencies Ability to manage and coordinate complex construction operations, ensuring both compliance and high standards of safety and quality. Advanced communication skills suitable for representing major projects to contractors, stakeholders, and third parties. Proficiency in collaborative problem-solving and proactive risk management within a cross-functional team environment.
