Job Description

AECOM is currently seeking a Land Surveying Department Manager to join our team in Hunt Valley or Baltimore, Maryland. This role is essential to the successful execution of transportation AECOM surveying projects providing leadership and oversight across all phases of survey operations. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in technical surveying practices, team management, and regulatory compliance, along with a commitment to delivering accurate and efficient results. Responsibilities:

 

Oversee Survey Operations: Manage and coordinate all aspects of surveying, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with project specifications.Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of surveyors, technicians, and other field personnel, fostering their professional development.Strategic Planning: Develop and implement surveying plans, methodologies, and best practices to optimize field data collection and layout.Collaboration: Coordinate closely with project managers, engineers, and construction teams to ensure seamless integration of surveying activities with overall project goals.Technological Expertise: Utilize advanced surveying technology, such as GPS, total stations, LiDAR, and drones for data acquisition and analysis.Quality Control: Conduct rigorous quality checks to verify survey accuracy and adherence to contractual requirements.Data Management: Manage survey data processing and ensure its integration with project management.Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed survey reports, logs, and documentation for project records.Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all survey activities comply with Department of Transportation, local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies and standards.Problem Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve survey-related challenges that may arise during a project, adapting to changing site conditions. 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

BA/BS and Ten years of related surveying experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership experience.Maryland Professional Land Surveyor (Prof LS) license is required.Demonstrated leadership experience, including the mentorship of teams

Preferred:

Demonstrated proficiency in project management, using surveying equipment, including GPS, total stations, and data collectors, as well as survey software such as MicroStation InRoads V8i, MicroStation OpenRoads, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Trimble Business Center.Ability to critically analyze existing site conditions, right of way, legal descriptions, ALTA surveys, easement documents, and condo documents to ensure accurate project planning. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with team members, clients, and other stakeholders.Attention to detail ensuring accuracy in survey measurements and data analysis.
