Job Description

We are currently seeking a Land Survey Crew Chief or Junior Crew Chief for our office in Knightdale, NC. This role involves boundary, topographic, and construction surveys, as well as using automated survey instrumentation and understanding construction plans and stakeout techniques. While candidates with two or more years of experience are preferred, training will be provided.

ResponsibilitiesPerform and operate as a one-person crew using state-of-the-art robotic and GPS equipment.Conduct construction layout, cut sheets, survey calculations, boundary and title surveys, and topographic surveys.Collect and manage survey data efficiently.Operate and maintain surveying equipment, such as total stations, digital levels, GPS receivers, and data collectors.Research and review land records, legal documents, and historical survey data to establish property boundaries.Establish boundary markers and reference points with high accuracy surveying techniques.Conduct traverses and level loops to establish primary and secondary control.Maintain accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe and certify work performance.Communicate daily with Project Surveyors and CAD technicians regarding project schedules and progress.Ensure the surveying team adheres to safety protocols and practices.Maintain the company truck and equipment responsibly.Essential SkillsAbility to work independently using robotic and GPS equipment.Working knowledge of construction layout, survey calculations, and data collection.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Experience with boundary and title surveys, topographic surveys, and construction stakeout.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with Auto CAD is a plus.Familiarity with boundary survey software and construction stakeout methods.Experience with Trimble Total Station, SIT, FSIT, Alta, and Topcon instruments.Work Environment

The role is based in our Knightdale, NC office, which is a smaller branch of a well-established engineering firm. The office plans to expand from 12 to 20 individuals in the next 12-18 months. The work environment is casual, with easy working conditions and flexible work-from-home options. The office is located in Knightdale.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.
