D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Land Acquisition Assistant. The right candidate will provide administrative and project support to the Land Acquisition team. This role is instrumental in helping the team identify, analyze, and secure residential land for development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Support the Land Acquisition team with data entry, contract tracking, and preparation of documentation related to land purchases and due diligence
Organize and maintain land acquisition files, project trackers, and databases
Assist with preparing purchase agreements, amendments, exhibits, and closing documents
Coordinate internal reviews and approvals for acquisition packages, budgets, and feasibility studies
Maintain project timelines and monitor key dates to ensure deliverables are met (e.g., contingency dates, closing deadlines)
Assist with the preparation and submittal of Corporate Land Book packages, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery
Track land leads and maintain coordination with Land Aquistioners for follow-up and status updates
Conduct market research including the collection and analysis of housing data, sales comps, and trends
Help with creating market graphs, mapping, and visuals to support acquisitions decisions and internal presentations
Prepare reports, presentations, and correspondence for internal meetings and leadership review
Communicate with title companies, legal counsel, municipalities, and consultants as needed
Support special projects assigned by the Land Acquisition Manager and other senior team members.
Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
Ability to work overtime
Ability to travel overnight

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
1-2 years of experience in an administrative or support role, preferably in real estate, land development, or construction
Strong organizational and time-management skills with keen attention to detail
Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment
Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
Proficiency with MS Office and email
Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision
