**Construction Laborer -- Monday - Friday Schedule -- Weekly Pay** **Pay: $20 - $23 per hour** **The position involves physical labor, including jackhammering and digging holes, as part of an internationally recognized organization that conducts highway, roadside, and race track safety research. The role includes designing, developing, testing, and evaluating roadside safety features such as guardrails, bridge rails, end terminals, crash cushions, sign supports, and luminaire poles.** **Responsibilities** + Participate in construction, demolition, and setup for component and full-scale testing of highway and roadside safety systems. + Perform earthwork, concrete, and highway safety hardware construction. + Work from plans under the general direction of research engineers and managers. + Engage in outdoor testing and construction year-round. + Utilize equipment such as bobcats, forklifts, dump trucks, backhoes, booms, compressors, and generators. + Assist in building barriers and barricades for crash tests. + Collaborate with team members to haul products across the jobsite. + Employ basic hand tools and power tools for barricade construction. + Maintain a high level of attention to detail. + Perform tasks such as picking up materials, running errands, digging holes for posts, and building guard rails. + Involve in steel fabrication with an understanding of angles. **Essential Skills** + 6+ months experience with hand tools like wrenches, hammers, band saws, and grinders. + 6+ months experience reading blueprints and work instructions. + 6+ months experience working in an outdoor environment. **Work Environment** The work is conducted outdoors on a 40-acre site, which can feel approximately 15 degrees hotter due to asphalt conditions. The site measures 3000 feet long and 400 feet wide, described as a 'concrete desert.' Work hours are 7am to 4:30pm, in teams of 2-3, with approximately 15-20 team members on-site depending on the season. The dress code requires steel-toed boots, ear protection, shorts or pants, and layers as needed. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
