Laboratory Technician Lead (Fuel)
Overview This position is physically located in Balad, Iraq. As a Laboratory Technician Lead (Fuel), you will supervise and direct the work of two Fuel Laboratory Technicians who supervise or conduct laboratory tests on petroleum, oil, and lubricant products. Specific duties may include: obtaining or receiving petroleum product samples; conducting laboratory tests for contaminants, strength, and toxic qualities; evaluating test results against specification requirements; making recommendations regarding product disposition; following fire prevention and safety control procedures. Maintains quality control of petroleum fuel, and other products, as necessary. Responsibilities This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company. + Supervise all tasks for two Fuel Laboratory Technicians to include: + Operate and maintains laboratory test equipment. + Maintain files and documentation related to test equipment and test results of equipment. + Collect and analyzes product samples from receipt sources, bulk storage tanks, and dispensing equipment. + Evaluate test results with specification requirements and makes recommendations regarding product disposition. + Assist with daily fuel operations as needed. + Ensure an effective product segregation and recovery program is implemented. + Track and account for Fuel Laboratory testing equipment to ensure its stays within the manufacture recommended calibration dates. + Track and ensure the latest testing ASTMs and military standards are being followed. + Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). + Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications + OCN Qualifications and Experience: + Minimum 2 years supervisory experience, preferably in fuels management + Minimum 7 years' work history with experience in fuel testing required. + High School Diploma or GED required, associates or graduate degree preferred. + US Army Quartermaster school certifications or equivalent required. + Experience with ASTM and Mil-Std-3004A standards. + Load and unload Lab Instrumentation + Fuel Analysis for DF-2, Jet-A1, JP-8, and gasoline (MOGAS) products. + Knowledge of B1 level testing and requirements to meet standard. + Must have a minimum of five (5) years' experience as a laboratory technician. + Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a host nation Driver's license. + Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently. + Skills: + Strong communication and interpersonal skills. + Experience and willingness to operate in a TEAM environment. + Clean and sterilize laboratory equipment. + Calibrate laboratory instruments + Prepare chemical solutions according to standard formulas + Laboratory skills: Cleans and sterilizes laboratory equipment; calibrates laboratory instruments; Prepares chemical solutions according to standard formulas. + Computer skills: Works well with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. + Knowledge of mandatory of composition, properties, and characteristics of petroleum products including toxic, explosive, and fire hazards; environmental protection procedures; conservation; methods of receiving, storing, testing, and evaluating fuel under normal, field, or remote conditions; and fuels deployment and contingency operations. + Working Conditions: + Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit. + Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, duty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months). + Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well. + Physical Requirements: + Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. + Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents. + Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices. + Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
