WHat are we looking for?
The CMT Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing a variety of construction materials testing, project specific observations and site assessment duties under general supervision and/or form detailed controlled procedures.
What you’ll do:
Performs a variety of testing, project specific observations and site assessment duties under direct supervision and/or from detailed controlled proceduresOperates testing equipment and conducts concrete lab testing, (example: Concrete Compressive Strength Testing, Shrinkage Testing, Mortar and Grout Testing) and provides assessment of data through reportingOperates testing equipment and conducts soils lab testing, (example: Standard & Modified Proctor Testing, Sieve Analysis, Atterberg Limits, Moisture Content and Specific Gravity Testing) and provides assessment of data through reportingMaintains detailed documentation and data from test resultsOperates a calculator to calculate mathematical test resultsCommunicates effectively with client and project teamsMust be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your actions at workMinimum Requirements & Qualifications:
Effective communication skills (written, verbal and listening) and solid interpersonal skills are requiredExternal (or task related) certifications based on region and state may be requiredBasic math, calculator, and computer skills are requiredMust be able to read and understand work plansMust be able to work off shift and overtime as neededValid Driver's License and reliable driving record requiredPreferred Requirements & Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED prefferedPrevious experience with laboratory and/or field construction materials testing is highly preferredRelevant Industry certifications are preferred:ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade I CertificationACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician CertificationACI Aggregate Testing Technician - Level 1 CertificationLBR CertificationPhysical Requirements:
Ability to lift, move, push, and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently. Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance.Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, (hearing) and to make the discriminations in sound.Ability to kneel and squat occasionallyAbility to walk and stand for long periods of timeAbility to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold)Ability to climb occasionally
