Posting Number NONAC3636 Job Title Laboratory Technician Position Title Laboratory Technician Position Type Non-Faculty Number of vacancies 1 Salary Department Neuroscience Institute Position Summary In support of Morehouse School of Medicine’s Vision; “Leading the creation and advancement of health equity,” the Neuroscience Institute is seeking an outstanding individual whose primary role will be to serve as a Laboratory Technician I. This position provides direction and support for scientific and research activities. Responsibilities include supporting or conducting scientific research and the collection, analysis, and reporting of data. Typical functions include grants administration, theoretical and applied research, human subject compliance, laboratory support services, animal care, etc. This is a part-time position with an average of 18 – 20 hours a week. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma Experience  Minimum of one (1) year of related experience Preferred Qualifications Advanced knowledge and experience with animal colony management, rodent handling, stereotaxic surgery and brain histology preferred.  Understanding of circadian biology and the ability to independently troubleshoot complex procedures is a plus. Job Duties

Description of Job Duty
Performs routine laboratory and general clerical tasks necessary for daily operation of laboratory. Collects, prepares, cleans and stores glassware and other lab equipment. Stocks and prepares media, reagents, chemical solutions and stains. Assists research and laboratory personnel with experiments and procedures. The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this classification.
