Eurofins Food and Water Testing New Zealand provides range of class leading food, water, plant, soil, and fertilizer testing, as well as horticultural services and technical solutions, primarily to the New Zealand market. With a staff of over 354 we operate laboratories in Auckland, Tauranga, Wellington, Taupō, Hastings, Christchurch, Dunedin, Invercargill, and Queenstown. We specialise in all Food types; Plants, soils, and fertilizers; Potable Water, Stormwater, and Wastewater; Asbestos and Contaminated land.
The role will require you to perform laboratory-based tests as well as the preparation of samples to be sent to other Eurofins laboratories. It may also include the collection of water and environmental samples from the Bay of Plenty region with the possibility for field-based testing of those samples. The position will also require you to liaise with customers to coordinate their sampling and testing requirements. The appointee will be expected to have the ability and skills necessary to work independently. Key roles are: -
+ Day to day management and maintenance of the laboratory facility
+ Accurately record details relating to time, place, and on-site measurements
+ Operate in accordance with the company's Quality and Procedures manuals
+ Plan and carry out analyses to meet and preferably exceed customer expectations
+ Process samples within the allowable time & temperature holding time under the requirements of the NZ Drinking Water Standards, RLP, or other applicable regulations
+ Ensure that any interaction with public or clients is courteous, professional, and prompt to provide information and answer basic queries
In addition, other requirements of this position are:
+ Comply with the company's Health and Safety procedures
+ Inform the Laboratory Manager immediately of any problems with equipment or instrumentation or day to day work
+ Proactively identify opportunities to improve service delivery
+ Undertake additional tasks when requested
+ Adopt the company's Lean Principles
Qualifications
+ Certificate / Diploma in Laboratory Techniques; or equivalent qualification; or significant laboratory experience.
+ Experience in a commercial laboratory will be an advantage.
+ Experience working within an administration role or similar would be highly regarded.
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to structure thoughts deliberately, logically and directly.
+ Knowledge of standard office applications, especially MS Word and MS Excel.
+ Strong attention to detail.
+ Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
