Position SummaryThe Laboratory Services Coordinator at Thermo Fisher Scientific will play a crucial role in coordinating the Lab Management processes at our Oxford Research site. This position ensures that all necessary resources for research activities are available in the assigned laboratories, directly supporting our scientific management collaborators. Based onsite in Abingdon
ResponsibilitiesAct as the key interface between Scientific Research Teams and Lab ServicesIdentify daily lab priorities and communicate cross-functionally with ULS/Vertex teams for flawless executionAttend science meetings to understand workflow, timing of needs, and experimental plansManage specialty consumable stocking areas both onsite and offsiteHandle the physical stocking requirements for non-standard consumablesManage special order entries and liaise with external vendorsProvide updates and resolutions on backorder tracking reports, supply availability, and delivery schedulesFacilitate lab requests for media preparation and commercially procured mediaCoordinate resource management required for experiments, including chemical/reagent management, lab stock consumables, and media/biologicals managementServe as the point of contact for EHSS, promoting safe practices and implementing new requirementsEnsure PPE availability and partner with Lab Services to manage lab coat vendorsGenerate outbound shipping requests and coordinate incoming shipments for the labSupport the aliquoting, preparation, and dispensing of chemicals, reagents, and samplesFollow well-defined procedures as outlined by Best Practices, SOPs, and work instructionsMake decisions and apply available resources to meet customer requirements independentlyPerform on-site program replenishments and disbursementsConduct specialty stockroom duties, including ordering, receiving, put-away, stock rotation, cycle counts, and other functions according to customer requirementsAnalyze data with the Site Team Leader and make recommendations for process improvementsCollaborate with the Lab Services team to implement changes resulting from analysisEnsure the inventory plan is achievedMonitor and update supplier and transport lead-times for specialty stock itemsMaintain site-specific metrics and appropriate documentation (SOPs and Work Instructions)Skills and QualificationsThe ideal candidate will possess prior experience in laboratory procedures and have the following skills:
