Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Laboratory Operations Technician to support the daily operations of our Analytical Sciences Lab. This non-testing role is essential to maintaining a safe, organized, and compliant laboratory environment. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, proactive, and capable of managing lab infrastructure, equipment readiness, and documentation workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain and manage laboratory inventory, including preparation of reagents and media.Safely handle and transport compressed gases and cryogenic liquids by safety protocols.Monitor and clean controlled temperature units, fume hoods, and biological safety cabinets (BSCs).Track and document equipment maintenance and calibration using electronic systems.Coordinate lab support workflows across teams using digital platforms.Manage lab documentation systems, including paper notebooks and logbook requests, updates, and reconciliation.Assist with scheduling and execution of recurring equipment maintenance and calibration activities.Ensure lab spaces are clean, organized, and properly labeled to meet compliance standards.Support weekend and overtime schedules as needed to maintain lab operations.Perform duties in laboratory areas handling potent chemical compounds, adhering to all safety procedures.

QualificationsAssociate degree (AS) in Life Sciences or a related field, or equivalent experience.Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.Proficiency in computer applications and electronic documentation systems.Ability to meet physical demands, including:Lifting objects weighing 25 lbs. or moreStanding and walking for extended periodsPushing/pulling carts and equipmentBending and reaching for suppliesFamiliarity with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) preferred.Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working independently and collaboratively.Authorized to work in the United States without restriction or sponsorship.

Additional Details: 

The position is full-time, Sunday-Thursday, with the hours of 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, with overtime as needed.  Candidates living within a commutable distance of Rensselaer, New York are encouraged to apply.
