Lab Supervisor – Anderson Hospital

Job Summary:             

The Lab Supervisor coordinates workflows including organizing, staffing, directing, reviewing, and monitoring related to all aspects of the clinical laboratory disciplines (e.g., Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Point of Care, Toxicology). The Lab Supervisor assists the leadership team with operational and administrative functions that facilitates excellent patient care, maintains laboratory functions, and ensures policies and procedures are completed by making compliance a key priority.

Essential Functions: 

Hires and assist with onboarding top talent to create a work environment of diversity, professional growth, and continuous development Evaluates the competency of all testing personnel and assuring that the staff maintain their competency to perform test procedures and report test results promptly, accurately and proficientlyEnsures that patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is functioning properlyParticipates in committees, task forces, and improvement teams as definedEnsures all changes within the laboratory are sufficiently validated before implementation Other duties as assigned

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in clinical laboratory science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Biochemistry (required) 

Certifications:

Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) or ASCP Certification (required) 

Experience:

5 years of experience in a laboratory tech setting (required) Previous experience in a leadership position in a laboratory tech environment preferred, not (required) 

Skills & Abilities:

Demonstrates leadership competencies and skills for the position, including excellent communication, customer service, continuous quality improvement, relationship development, and decision makingPossesses extensive knowledge of clinical practice or function and a thorough understanding of the organization and work environment
