Labcorp is seeking a Laboratory Director to join our team supporting multiple hospital partnerships in the Portland, OR region.
Work Schedule: Day shift, Monday–Friday Additional hours as neededTravel required between hospital sitesJob ResponsibilitiesServe as the primary liaison between laboratory services and hospital executive leadershipPartner with hospital leaders to align laboratory operations with organizational goalsParticipate in executive meetings, hospital committees, and operational reviewsOversee day-to-day operations across multiple hospital laboratoriesEnsure compliance with CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, and applicable regulatory standardsManage staffing, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation across sitesMonitor laboratory performance including turnaround times, quality metrics, and productivityAnalyze and present data to leadership to support decision-making and operational improvementsLead process improvement initiatives and drive operational efficienciesSupport implementation of new technologies, instrumentation, and laboratory systemsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance patient care and service deliveryMentor and develop laboratory managers and staffEnsure all laboratory operations follow company policies and proceduresMinimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical TechnologyASCP or equivalent certification7 years or more of experience in clinical laboratory operations3 years or more of leadership experience in a laboratory settingExperience working with hospital leadership and multidisciplinary teamsExperience managing laboratory operations, staffing, and workflowPreferred QualificationMaster’s degree (MBA, MHA, or related field)1 year or more of experience in a Laboratory Director or Administrative Director role2 years or more of experience supporting multi-site or hospital-based laboratory operations1 year or more of experience presenting data and operational metrics to leadership1 year or more of experience leading process improvement or strategic initiativesExperience with laboratory information systems (LIS) such as Epic BeakerExperience supporting instrument implementations or system integrationsFamiliarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologiesAdditional Job StandardsStrong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, and state regulationsUnderstanding of laboratory operations, policies, and proceduresStrong communication skills; both written and verbalHigh level of attention to detail with strong organizational skillsAbility to build relationships with hospital partners and internal teamsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentFlexibility to travel and adjust schedule based on business needs
Benefits: Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours, Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan.
