**Job Summary and Responsibilities** As a Lab Assistant, you will play a crucial role in solving diagnostic mysteries, bringing us one step closer to effectively treating patient illnesses and injuries. Every day you will utilize your expertise and our advanced technology to precisely collect, prepare, and process a diverse range of patient specimens (blood, urine, tissue, etc.) for various diagnostic tests. To be successful in this role, you will possess a foundational understanding of laboratory procedures, demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, and maintain an eager commitment to continuous learning and professional development. **Job Requirements** Practices positive patient identification at all times, in all job functions. Receives and prepares various specimens for analysis. Properly labels and aliquots. Performs department specimen intake, processing and organization for the technical testing area. Performs department support functions, ie culture plating, histology staining, specimen loading on instruments depending upon department needs and organization. Reviews pending test lists to assist with department turnaround time. Assists in solving problems, investigates specimen issues and customer inquiries. Provides information regarding specimen and testing status as appropriate. Monitors and stocks department supplies and reagents. Logs reagents and supplies, following department protocols. **Where You'll Work** St. Luke’s Health–Brazosport Hospital is located on a beautiful, 25-acre campus in Lake Jackson, Texas.
