Laboratory Assistant II Full Time Nights
10p-6:30a M-F with rotational weekends
***$5,000.00 Sign-On Bonus (Paid over 1 Year)***
Responsible for the collection of blood specimens ensuring patient safety and consistency with age-specific considerations for all patients, neonates, infants, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics as well as employees. Performs venous, capillary and infant heel sticks to ensure specimen integrity. Follows proper labeling protocols for specimen tubes/containers. Follows order of draw/collection. Performs clerical functions, processing duties, specimen receipt and distribution of laboratory specimens and training of students and employees. Performs phlebotomist duties as assigned. Must be knowledgeable of emergency procedures. Inputs and retrieves data from laboratory /hospital computer system.
THE LABORATORY ASSISTANT II FULL TIME NIGHTS CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING:
Communicate effectively with physicians, coworkers, and nursing staff. Prioritization and organizational skills. Perform venipuncture and maintain specimen integrity. Light computer entry.

Education/Other Qualifications:
Minimum Education: A high school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum Experience: Completion of phlebotomy program preferred.1 year of laboratory experience and/or completion of a formal phlebotomy training program. Basic laboratory computer/lab information system experience preferred.
Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses: American Heart Association BLS CPR certification required. Must be obtained within 7 days of hire. Completion of formal phlebotomy training program and/or national phlebotomy certification through ASCP, ANP, ASPT or similar preferred.
