Position Title: Lab Assistant

Business Title: Laboratory Technician II

Entity: Consumer Products Services Division

Department: ATL

Location: Mason, Ohio

Reports to: Onsite Supervisor

FLSA: Non-Exempt

 

 

Hours Worked: Monday through Friday, 1st shift, 25 hours per week.  However, must be flexible to meet the needs of the department and complete other projects as assigned. Position available for extension and increase to full-time at end of calendar year.

 

Compensation Range: $18 - $20 an hour (e.g., the job posting is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, and actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as locations, education, experience, and skillset).

 

Position Summary:

 

The Laboratory Technician II is responsible for assisting with the planning, organization, and execution of on-site human panel studies. The associate will also be trained and assist with completion of laboratory experiments during off panel weeks.

Support Oral Care R&D laboratory and Panel study activities Assisting client and Senior Lab Associate with planning and organization of on-site human panels studies. Assisting client and Senior Lab Associate with organizing and processing weekly collection of human samples, i.e. weekly breath and saliva collections Assisting client and Senior Lab Associate with the execution of on-site human studies: working directly with panelist to take measurements, record data, collect samples, provide guidance on product use and records all safety/adverse event information Sterile handling of samples and understanding of aseptic technique Lab upkeep, restocking supplies, safe disposal of wastes, cleaning, organizing.  Assist the client with executing client-specific methods for testing Oral Care consumer products, processing human samples, and/or executing microbiological testing. Timely and accurate documentation of experimental notes, data, and results into various note booking systems (physical notebooks, logbooks, Sharepoint files, and Excel) Support other Oral Care research as needed, such as various lab methods/experiments.

 

Skills & Proficiencies:

 

Must be very reliable and adhere to the strict schedule timeframes Strong understanding of scientific principles/concepts, general laboratory skills needed, pipetting, making solutions, aseptic technique, documentation, understanding protocols/procedures, etc. Must have strong attention to detail and the ability to learn quickly Displays excellent communication skills Must be able to work as part of a team Adheres to company values

 

Education and Experience:

 

Associate's Degree or higher in chemistry, biology or closely related field Some industry experience desired
