Labor Counsel
At First Student and First Transit, Labor Counselors are an essential part of our team. They negotiate labor contracts within their region and advise field operations on labor relations, HR, and employment issues. Is a representative of First Student and First Transitbefore the Federal, State, and Local agencies at arbitration and mediation. Serves as chief negotiator in collective bargaining Represents our company before the NLRB in both C and R cases Represents company at arbitrations and mediations Provides operations management with day to day advice and guidance regarding all labor, employment, human resources issues, laws, regulations, policies, and procedures Maintains timely and accurate corporate reporting mechanisms for matters of responsibility Investigates employee complaints, including complaints of discrimination and harassment, and provide recommendations to senior management for corrective action Requirements of a Labor Counselor: Law degree 2-4 years of legal experience, recommended in labor and employment law Computer proficiency Excellent administrative skills and superior interpersonal skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Ability to work well in a team but also independently Works well with diverse personalities Ability to be flexible and tactful Great communication skills And, because were a huge company with 120,000 staff and over 2.5 billion customers worldwide, youll also enjoy real security, a brilliant future, and fantastic training.
