Fairview Hospital's Level III Birthing Center provides care to patients in labor and delivery as well as provides treatments for patients undergoing elevated risk antepartum or postpartum. As a Labor and Delivery Support Assistant, you will help maintain a safe and clean labor and delivery environment while ensuring supplies are stocked and equipment is functioning properly. In this role, you will also assist with transporting patients and supporting the care team to promote efficient unit operations and a positive patient experience.
A caregiver in this role works days from 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. with weekend and holiday requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Organize and clean patient care areas including but not limited to patient rooms, operating and recovery rooms, and bathrooms.
Maintain and clean patient care and birthing equipment.
Report any issues with equipment.
Organize and clean soiled utility and supply rooms and maintain established supply levels.
Assist patient care team with patient transport as required.
Perform other transportation functions as required including but not limited to delivery of patient specimens and patient care equipment.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma OR GED
Critical thinking, customer service, teamwork, multi-tasking skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding patients, families and co-workers
Demonstrates respect for individual cultural and social differences
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Health care experience
Customer service and/or cleaning skills
Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of body motion including handling and patient lifting, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
Requires frequent standing, walking, bending/stooping, kneeling, reaching and squatting.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
