Job Profile: Ceramic Lab Technician – Level 1

 

Position Summary:    

Use various handheld and bench mounted measuring devices to determine product quality.  Measure, assess, and record data for a variety of processes and material production methods in a Ceramics lab.

 

Essential Functions:  

Cut and collect test coupons from thermal processesConduct dimensional checks on kiln process control keys and test bars for multiple facilitiesPerform destructive tests for kiln process control and material certifications for multiple material mixes and for PCC foundriesOperate x-ray diffraction (XRD), dilatometry, MOR (modulus of rupture), and SAG equipmentEnter test data into spreadsheets and/or databasesConduct calibration on process control equipment such as hydrometers and thermometersMust follow and adhere to all safety proceduresMaintain department standards for housekeeping/6SOther duties as assigned by supervision

 

 

Required Skills:

Must be able to read, write, and do basic mathematical problemsMust be detail oriented and well organizedAbility to work in a team-oriented environmentMust be self-directed to accomplish goals with minimal supervisionMust have good interpersonal skills for dealing with customers and internal employeesMust be computer literate, familiarity with Excel a plus
