Lab Technician II - Manual Hematology

The Lab Tech II supports the laboratory by managing reagent inventory, entering accurate information into the internal Access database, and communicating effectively with both leaders and fellow technicians. Because clerical errors such as incorrect expiration dates can directly affect patient testing, meticulous attention to detail is critical. This role also assists with technical operations, including performing maintenance on the stainer instrument. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, adaptable, and understands the importance of precise, reliable work in delivering safe and accurate patient test results. **A caregiver in this position works days, 7:30am-4:00pm. No weekends/holidays.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Receive and accession laboratory specimens into the LIS. + Retrieve, sort, track and deliver specimens. + Perform specimen investigation procedures to resolve lab specimen issues or problems. + Verify accurate documentation relative to specimen processing. + Maintain patient, specimen and tracking data using the laboratory computer system, tracking and software/devices. + Prepare specimens for analysis and accept or reject specimens. + Perform manual processing (centrifuge, aliquoting and routine maintenance). Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + High school diploma or GED + One year of lab experience Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Associate's Degree (or equivalent credit hours) will substitute for up to one year of experience **Physical Requirements:** + Ability to perform specimen handling techniques and take measurements. + Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods. + Ability to move throughout the department and hospital system. + Handles and transports biohazardous materials and potential carcinogens. + Ability to differentiate color, hue, saturation, and tones. + Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs. **Personal Protective Equipment:** + Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required. **Pay Range** Minimum hourly: $19.25 Maximum hourly: $29.30 The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range displayed does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.).
