Job Description:
The Laboratory Technician will support the R&D Product Chemistry Group within a Global R&D organization. This role focuses on laboratory-based analytical support, using advanced characterization techniques to understand the relationship between product chemistry and product performance.
The technician will perform hands-on laboratory work, including multi-step sample preparation, instrument operation, and routine instrument maintenance, under the direction of a Senior Scientist.
Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Method Support
+ Prepare samples for trace-level impurity analysis in raw materials and finished products using techniques including HPLC and Mass Spectrometry
+ Support multi-step analytical workflows and characterization studies
+ Prepare data packages for interpretation by Senior Scientists
+ Apply scientific methods to improve analytical performance in assigned focus areas
+ Collaborate with team members by sharing ideas, observations, and best practices
+ Maintain a clean and organized laboratory workspace
+ Continuously develop laboratory bench skills and technical expertise
+ Review and study relevant scientific literature to advance technical knowledge
Laboratory Equipment & Tools
+ Support routine maintenance and upkeep of advanced analytical instrumentation
+ Ensure operational compliance and accurate documentation of equipment use
Documentation & Reporting
+ Maintain accurate, detailed records of testing activities in laboratory notebooks and electronic systems
+ Generate clear, fit-for-purpose reports summarizing test results and conclusions in alignment with a “trusted science” approach
Quality, Safety & Compliance
+ Adhere to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and applicable regulatory requirements
+ Comply with all Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) site policies and procedures
+ Actively participate in at least one EHS-sponsored committee (e.g., Industrial Hygiene)
Qualifications
Education
+ Associate’s degree in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Microbiology, Engineering, or a related scientific field
+ Related fields of study may be considered
Preferred Skills & Competencies
+ Hands-on laboratory experience in analytical or chemistry-based environments
+ Familiarity with HPLC, MS, or similar analytical techniques
+ Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
+ Ability to follow protocols and work effectively under supervision
+ Strong teamwork and communication skills
