Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Lab Technician to monitor chlorine levels, grade salt stockpiles daily, conduct chemical analysis, and perform purity mixing. This role involves maintaining a clean workspace and collaborating with other lab technicians on shift.

ResponsibilitiesMonitor chlorine levels and perform daily grading of salt stockpiles.Conduct inspections and data entry related to chemical analysis.Perform wet chemistry and purity mixing.Maintain cleanliness of the workspace.Collaborate with fellow lab technicians during shifts.Conduct quality control inspections of products, including pulling samples and conducting tests.Prepare chemical solutions according to formulas and run daily samples for testing.Document all processes accurately on paper and electronically to maintain traceability.Essential SkillsProficiency in wet chemistry and chemical analysis.Experience in quality assurance and quality control.Ability to conduct lab testing and titration.Minimum of 1 year experience working in a non-medical laboratory setting.Additional Skills & QualificationsAbility to lift approximately 40 lbs daily.Strong ability to learn quickly and possess excellent soft skills.Work Environment

The position is based in a salt mine environment, which is humid, dirty, and physically demanding. You will need to navigate several flights of stairs multiple times daily. Training will last between 4 weeks, with a schedule of 7 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday and every other Saturday. Initially, you will work alongside others, but will eventually work independently. The lab is a satellite building from the mill, requiring transportation of samples. Dress code during training includes jeans, steel toe boots, and t-shirts (no short sleeves), with uniforms provided a few weeks after starting. Benefits include 80 hours of PTO and 6 additional days of holiday pay, with holiday pay available only to those not scheduled to work on holidays.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
