Work Arrangement

This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Milford, MI on a full-time basis.

Relocation

We are seeking a self-motivated Lab System Integration Engineer to join our team focused on advancing capabilities within a dynamic laboratory environment. In this role, you will manage software changes and integrate applications across global GM laboratories that support emissions testing for gasoline, diesel, electric, and hybrid propulsion systems. We're looking for energetic individuals who are passionate about software, problem-solving, and innovation—those eager to take on challenges and introduce new strategies, technologies, and methods to enhance our operations.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

Design and Support Test Systems: Develop high-accuracy, high-reliability systems for vehicle development testing, incorporating human factors, fault tolerance, error handling, and compatibility for future scalability.Project Management: Lead projects with accurate planning, budgeting, and resource allocation. Provide technical direction, maintain documentation, and ensure timely progress reporting.System Integration and Troubleshooting: Maintain and troubleshoot emission test automation systems, resolve software/hardware issues, and lead integration efforts for capital projects focusing on system-level communication and device control.Cross-functional Collaboration: Coordinate with Facilities, external labs, and vendors (e.g. AVL, RISI, Horiba) to execute upgrades, resolve issues, and manage software for test systems.Request and Change Management: Handle work and change requests (LEWR/CCB), ensuring timely completion and providing feedback to requestors.Technical Leadership and Communication: Guide instrumentation support personnel, manage multiple projects simultaneously, stay updated on new technologies, and communicate effectively across internal and external teams.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

Associate’s degree in Engineering or a Technical discipline3+ years of relevant industry experience.Hands-on experience working in a laboratory environment.Solid understanding of vehicle control systems and emissions technologies.Proven ability to manage complex information and lead multiple projects simultaneously.Familiarity with basic coding principles, particularly in C#.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred qualifications)

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Science Engineering 5+ years of professional experience in automotive or related fields.Direct experience in emissions laboratory operations.Proficiency with lab hardware and software tools.Hands-on experience with: AVL iGEM, A&D iTEST, Horiba Emissions benches and BitbucketKnowledge of advanced emissions measurement systems: AVL 478 Particulate Mass, AVL 489 Particulate Number, AVL 483 Micro SootSkilled in data analysis using AVL Concerto.Advanced proficiency in C# and other scripting languages.
