Lab Service Engineer
Job Description A service engineer for laboratory equipment is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, calibration, and validation of a wide range of laboratory instruments for analytical (e.g., HPLC, GC, MS) and/or non-analytical (e.g., liquid handlers, centrifuges, incubators). Their role includes hands-on support, preventative maintenance, and resolution of mechanical, low-voltage electrical, and software issues. They maintain detailed service records, and use work management software to track instrument history, and support GLP compliance. Effective communication and collaboration with colleagues and research partners is a must. The role demands adherence to all EH&S policies, strong problem-solving, communication, and time management skills, along with a solid understanding of laboratory processes in analytical chemistry and/or biological sciences. The responsibilities of this role include the performance of preventative maintenance, resolve technical issues, accurately document service activities, and support users through technical guidance. Other responsibilities include assisting in installations, relocating pallets and equipment, and proper handling of decommissioned equipment.
