About you and this role
Dow has exciting job opportunities for an Associate Analytical Technician (Lab Operator) in the Manage Product Quality Lab (MPQ) in Texas City, TX.
This role ensures product quality for materials at various stages (arrival, storage, in-process, production, shipping) through a wide range of analyses. As a customer service organization, the lab interacts with various customers across multiple businesses and functions. This job is a 12-hour rotating shift position.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Work safely and escalate concerns appropriately
+ Perform daily and weekly calibrations/standardizations.
+ Perform routine analyses and report accurate results.
+ Follow-up on out of specification results in a timely manner.
+ Perform non-routine analyses, as appropriate.
+ Must follow cGMP requirements for regulated product.
+ Perform basic maintenance & troubleshooting on laboratory instrumentation.
+ Follow the Analytical Work Process (AWP), and EH&S and ODMS procedures and practices.
+ Route requests originating within the unit to the appropriate person.
+ Become proficient with and use Dow /TCO Lab electronic tools including, but not limited to: LIMS, Open Lab, Electronic Logbook, ESWP, MOC, and MTL, as required.
+ Evaluate validity of data, apply basic statistics, interpret results, and take appropriate action.
+ Monitor analytical systems, identify problems, conduct first-line troubleshooting, and escalate as appropriate.
+ Document, communicate and archive analytical results and calibration data.
+ Receive training for and support work permit writing for the lab.
+ Participate in scheduled safety and team meetings.
+ Participate in the raw material and finished product retainer management system.
+ Participate as an immediate response leader for the department
+ Participate in Root Cause Investigations as required
Required Qualifications:
+ High School Diploma or GED is required and one of the following:
+ Associates degree or higher
+ 6 months or more in an Industrial Laboratory setting
+ 3 or more years of relevant military experience
+ Must be able to work a 12-hour rotating shift that includes weekends, nights, & holidays as well as providing necessary overtime coverage.
+ Current, valid US driver’s license.
+ A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Physical Requirements:
Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:
+ Lift, push, carry, and pull up to a maximum of 50 lbs.
+ Able to work in a laboratory environment which requires minimal supervision.
+ Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to safety glasses, fire retardant clothing, ear plugs, and/or acceptable safety shoes.
+ Capable of staying awake and mentally alert for long periods of time; especially during non-traditional hours (i.e. nights)
+ Adapt to the Rhythm of Shiftwork
+ Be able to repeatedly sit down and stand up from a chair at a workstation
+ Walk and stand for extended periods of time; up to 75%.
+ Frequent bending and reaching
+ Able to climb stairs/ladders
+ Able to perform repetitive motion tasks
+ Work in an area with hazardous materials.
