US HWY 301, Riverview, FL 33578 **The community you'll be caring for** **:** AdventHealth Riverview AdventHealth is expanding our medical expertise, innovation, and state-of-the-art technology to southern Hillsborough County through a brand-new hospital in Riverview, which is scheduled to open in 2024. The new AdventHealth Riverview hospital will include 82 beds at time of opening with space to expand to 202 beds in the future. This $250 million project in Riverview also includes a 100,000 square foot, four-story Medical Office Building that will provide community members convenient access to expert care. AdventHealth Riverview will offer a wide range of health care services which includes emergency, cardiovascular, digestive, urology, orthopedic and womens care. **The role you'll contribute** **:** The Laboratory Assistant III performs various laboratory support procedures in assigned areas, which may include phlebotomy and/or specimen processing in clinical and anatomical pathology areas. This role is integral to processing all types of lab specimens, including microbiology and histology. The Laboratory Assistant III must meet the required basic continuing education and department-specific requirements. Work customarily involves practical knowledge in various laboratory procedures and support functions, requiring advanced problem-solving skills. Active participation in Laboratory, Campus, or Community programs is required. Additionally, this role entails equipment preventative maintenance as needed and may involve staffing the emergency department as necessary. The Laboratory Assistant III assists in ensuring the daily activities of the Lab Processing Area meet the needs of the entire hospital and acts as the primary provider of orientation and training for newly hired Laboratory Assistants. This position may also serve as the "In Charge" person over the Specimen Processing Area during times when the Processing Supervisor is not available, playing a crucial role in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all and actively participating in outstanding customer service. **The value you'll bring to the team** **:** Performs various support activities to facilitate operation of assigned department or work area, which may include answering the telephone, clerical and receptionist duties. Assists the Laboratory management with special projects as assigned. Assists in teaching new staff and students when assigned. May act as a preceptor when teaching new staff and Students when assigned. Provides resolution to customer service issues within guidelines and supports education to clinical staff. Participates in, and has knowledge of, laboratory and hospital Performance Improvement activities, including evaluation of new equipment and/or procedures or methods.
