Labcorp is seeking a Lab Assistant to join our team in RTP, NC. This role works in a high volume, production based environment performing a vital component of clinical lab science.

Work Schedule: First Shift, Tuesday-Saturday 6:00am to 2:30pm

Job Responsibilities

Receive and sort clinical lab specimensScan and/or data entry of specimen and patient informationTroubleshoot any specimen related issuesReplenish test bench supplies as neededMaintain a clean and safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipmentComplete record logs and other administrative duties as requestedFollow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standardsPerforms pre analytical tasks   researching, reviewing for previous results and looking for potential duplicate specimens.Reviews test orders prior to specimen processing to ensure sample type is appropriate and all necessary information is included.Investigates and resolves problem samples, information request and specimen requests from other departments.Uses lab computer systems to track and pull patient samples for downstream testing.Corresponds with other laboratory support groups to resolve client inquiries and concerns.Communicates with Client Services to provide notification or delays in testing and/or gather missing information critical to testing.

Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalentPrevious medical/lab or production experience is preferredComfortability with handling biological specimens Ability to accurately identify specimens Basic computer knowledge and data entry skillsHigh level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitaskAbility to work in a fast paced production environment and meet established turn-around timesStrong communication skills; both written and verbalAbility to sit and/or stand for extended periods of timeMust pass a standardized color blindness testFlexibility to work overtime as needed
