Job Overview:
The Laboratory Assistant supports the daily operations of our hospital's clinical laboratory. The Laboratory Assistant plays a vital role in specimen collection, preparation, and processing, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of results to healthcare providers.

Completion of a laboratory assistant or phlebotomy training program Phlebotomy certification -e,g, CPT from NHA or PBT from ASCPBasic Life Support certificationPrior experience working in a clinical or hospital laboratory setting Experience with specimen handling, data entry, and basic laboratory procedures Familiarity with laboratory information systems and electronic health recordsScheduling Requirements:
Shift working, 7-3pmMust be able to cover every other weekend and Holidays as neededFull-Time (FT)Essential Functions:
Receive, label, and process patient specimens including blood, urine, tissue, and other body fluids according to established protocolsAssist with specimen collection, including venipuncture and capillary draws, under supervision and within the scope of training and certificationPrepare specimens for laboratory testing, including centrifugation, aliquoting, and proper storageTransport specimens to appropriate laboratory departments or external reference labs as neededMaintain accurate records of specimen receipt, processing, and delivery using laboratory information systems Monitor specimen integrity and ensure compliance with handling, storage, and transport guidelinesClean and disinfect laboratory equipment, work surfaces, and instruments in accordance with infection control policiesRestock supplies and maintain inventory of collection materials, reagents, and disposablesAssist laboratory technologists and scientists with routine tasks such as slide preparation, reagent mixing, and equipment setupRespond to inquiries from clinical staff regarding specimen status and collection proceduresAdhere to hospital safety protocols, including proper disposal of biohazardous waste and use of personal protective equipmentParticipate in quality control and quality assurance activities to support laboratory accreditation and complianceMaintain confidentiality of patient information and uphold ethical standards in all laboratory activitiesSupport training of new staff or students in basic laboratory procedures and safety practicesBenefits and Perks:
