Summary: Responsible for learning and executing lean concepts by studying and planning operations for the effective utilization of personnel, material, machines and facilities where decisions are made within the limits of general practices and policies. Assists in leading or supporting front-line lean initiatives at the plant by utilizing the site value stream metrics. Organizes associates in value stream mapping and continuous improvement initiatives to eliminate waste in all office, factory and support functions. Measures and reports progress on an on-going basis using PDCA actions, keeping leadership informed and involved. Transfers lean principles to facility leadership. Essential Functions: Maintains a safe workplace for self and fellow associates Leads and guides Lean initiatives within the Plant. Works with Plant level management on Lean projects using lean tools and metrics. Assists in the development of a Lean Strategy to be implemented plant-wide. Coordinates/ Participates in initiatives at the plant and train associates how to continually eliminate waste. Support and executes along with the leadership teams at the location in the implementation of Lean principles, techniques, and methodologies according to Corporate requirements. Technologies and methodologies include Value Steam Mapping, 8 point criteria, including Cellular Manufacturing, Continuous flow, Kanban/Pull Systems, Quick Changeover( SMED), design for lean, inventory reduction, site tracking /TIB visual management centers etc. Makes implementation and results a top priority and regularly updates the Plant’s Lean implementation plan. Empowers every employee in the Plant through positive reinforcement of Lean. "Make Lean the way we do things at Parker." Provides effective change management. Serves as a catalyst for successful and sustained lean implementation. Documents change through update of Standard work documents and ensures current documentation and process compliance through audits, line walks, etc." Provides front line level of technical and operational recommendations in meeting material control, product quality and customer service goals. Supports coaching and teaching of lean principles through the use educational and on floor experiences. Ensures on-going education of all employees at the Plant in Lean. Promotes a Continuous Learning environment. Trains new associates and cross trains existing workforce in lean tool applications Position must understand the current culture by reviewing existing documentation of policies and procedures. Position is responsible for working with all operating disciplines in order to implement value stream management targets developed in the high-level plant and value stream plans, measured by key Lean metrics. Participates, supports or may lead plant wide daily and scheduled Kaizen efforts. Qualifications • High School Diploma required, Bachelors preferred. • Must have participated or supported a previous 3-5-day Kaizen within the past 36 months. • Strong communication skills • Positive “Can Do” attitude displayed in daily activities • Strong problem-solving skills displayed in previous events. • Ready status for Basic Word, Microsoft Excel and Power point software • High degree of mechanical ability. • Requires lifting objects weighing up to approximately 50 pounds. Pushing, pulling, or lifting objects may require greater exertion. • Knowledge of mechanic’s tools and equipment, calipers, gauges, and micrometers required.
