Juvenile Development Center Registered Nurse (RN)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM (8-hour shifts)
Hours: 40 hours per week
Start Date: February 23, 2026
Setting: Juvenile justice / youth development environment (ages 10–21)
Position Overview
A Correctional Registered Nurse provides essential healthcare services within a secure correctional environment. This role involves working closely with healthcare professionals, correctional staff, and administrative teams to support the well-being of an incarcerated youth population. The RN must be able to deliver both routine and emergency medical care while navigating the unique challenges of a correctional setting.
This position requires strong clinical judgment, independence, and the ability to function as the primary medical professional on site when needed.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide routine, urgent, and emergency nursing care to youth in custody
• Collaborate with correctional officers, administrators, and healthcare staff
• Assess, document, and manage patient health needs
• Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
• Support a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment
• Adapt to the limitations and demands of a correctional facility
• Work independently with minimal on-site support when required
Minimum Requirements
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the practicing state
• Minimum of 1 year of correctional, detention, or juvenile justice healthcare experience preferred
• Current CPR certification
• TB screening (questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray, as applicable)
• Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements
• Must be at least 18 years of age
