Job DescriptionJoin AECOM’s B+P Sustainable Design Team in an exciting opportunity to contribute to our mission of addressing the climate emergency. Based in Madrid, you will collaborate with architects, engineers, interior designers, and urban planners on a diverse range of international projects. This role is ideal for recent graduates or professionals with up to a few years of experience who are eager to build a career in sustainable design.
We are seeking a motivated early-career professional to support the integration of sustainable design solutions across our projects. Key responsibilities include:
Supporting Design Development: Contribute to the creation of building and masterplan designs that focus on reducing carbon emissions, using sustainable materials, and improving resource efficiency.Environmental Analysis: Assist in developing tools and methods to analyze environmental performance during the early stages of design.Data-Driven Reporting: Prepare clear and detailed reports that explain analysis results and recommendations, with guidance from senior team members.Collaborative Engagement: Work closely with colleagues from different disciplines and external partners to achieve project goals.Workload Management: Organize and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines effectively.Research and Training: Explore new sustainable policies, trends, and technologies, and share insights with the team.Project Contribution: Provide support to various projects as neededQualificationsBackground in Architecture, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar. An MSc on Sustainability or Environmental Design is desirable.Suitable for recent graduates or professionals with up to 2 years of experience in a related field.A strong interest in sustainability and awareness of current environmental issues.Knowledge of building physics software for environmental simulation is desirable (IES VE, Energy+, Radiance, Ladybug, Henybee, OneClick LCA, etc). An appreciation of coding or a modern programming language would be an advantage.Basic experience with design software like Rhino or Revit, and proficiency in office tools like Word and PowerPoint.Awareness of sustainability standards like LEED, BREEAM, WELL, or Passivhaus is beneficial. Professional accreditation is not required.Ability to carefully assess and analyze information with precision.Strong analytical skills in researching and interpreting data.Confidence in presenting ideas and communicating effectively.Ability to work independently and take initiative when needed.Professional proficiency in both English and Spanish.Additional InformationAbout AECOM
