What You Will Do:

As an onsite hands-on Junior Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO), you will document, monitor, and audit information systems (IS) for compliance with applicable U. S. government cybersecurity requirements. The Junior ISSO will report directly to the Senior Manager, Programs Cybersecurity.

We are looking for people with initiative, creativity, adaptability, strong written and verbal skills, strong analytical skills and attention to detail; creative troubleshooting skills; possess excellent judgment and professional maturity; have multi-tasking abilities and a client focus; and work effectively in a time sensitive and dynamic environment as part of a cybersecurity compliance team.

Primary Responsibilities:

Work in close collaboration with the ISSM and Sr. ISSOs to monitor, analyze, document, and report user activity in accordance with policies and procedures to ensure the appropriate operational security posture is maintained for an information system.

Process user account requests by verifying and documenting requisite security clearances, authorization, and need-to-know and instructing users of their security responsibilities before granting access to the information system.

Ensure audit records are collected, analyzed, and documented in accordance with system security authorization packages, informing the ISSM of any anomalies discovered during the review and analysis.

Develop and maintain a working knowledge of system functions, security policies, technical security safeguards, and operational security measures required to monitor and report on the security aspects of an information system.

Recognize possible security violations or incidents, reporting them to the ISSM as soon as possible, to include those reported by a third party, and supporting any required incident response activities as directed.

Attend required technical and security training (e.g., operating system, networking, security management) relative to assigned duties to establish detailed knowledge and expertise required to manage the security aspects of an information system.

Knowledge of the DCSA Defense Assessment and Authorization Process Manual (DAAPM), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) 800-53 Rev 4 publication, & the Risk Management Framework

Willingness to learn new technologies & take on new projects to grow experience, the ability to remain calm and composed under pressure in a high energy/fast paced environment, adaptability to changing business needs, comfort working with minimal daily supervision, ability to balance multiple priorities, and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

Qualifications You Must Have:

Advanced degree and 1+ years of Cybersecurity, Information Systems or Technology experience; OR Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of relevant industry experience; OR Associate’s degree and 4+ years of relevant industry experience; OR High School diploma and 6+ years of relevant industry experience.

DoD-recognized IAM-Level I or higher industry-recognized cybersecurity certifications such as GSLC, CAP and Security+.

Active US Government Security Clearance, SECRET level or higher.

Qualifications We Prefer:

A+, Network+, Security+, SSCP, and/or CCNA certifications

2 years of experience supporting validated desktop, server, network, systems administration, troubleshooting, implementation security requirements in Microsoft Windows 10, OS imaging, installation, configuring, and support & troubleshooting

DoD-recognized IAM-Level II or higher industry-recognized cybersecurity certifications such as CASP, CISM, and/or CISSP.

Experience in a cybersecurity ISSO role, preferably of information systems supporting classified programs or activities.

Familiarity with security hardening guides & tools (DISA STIGs/SCAP).

Familiarity with Splunk, Tenable.sc, and/or other system monitoring tools

General knowledge of networking technologies such as TCP/IP ports, protocols and services, switching, and routing

Ability to obtain TOP SECRET clearance with SAP/SCI access.

The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD - 130,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
