Responsibilities:
You will be also responsible for the collection of Hydrological monitoring data.
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
Supervise the drilling of dewatering boreholes and installation.
Ensure all boreholes are inspected and operational daily.
Coordinating with other departments, contractors and suppliers as required to replace faulty pumps and boreholes.
Collection and communication of pumping rates and pumping volumes from the boreholes.
Coordination and communication with the mining contractor, the environment department and other teams as required for data collection.
Supervise the drilling and installation of piezometers for pore pressure monitoring.
Maintenance of pore pressure monitoring instrumentation
Data collection from data from vibrating wire piezometers, data loggers and other field installations.
Data compilation and management
Daily and weekly reporting relating to data collection, equipment status, and field programmes, as required
Assist with inspections of water management infrastructure (dams, diversion channels, ditches, drains etc.)
Qualification Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Mining Engineer, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred
Experience and Skills Requirements:
A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in hydrogeology, geology or environmental science, is required
Proficient in data collection techniques and use of monitoring equipment is required.
Familiarity with GIS software is preferred.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to document findings clearly and concisely.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment and adapt to changing project needs.
Meticulous attention to detail in data collection and reporting.
