The Kibali Gold Mine (KGM) Team is seeking to recruit 2 Junior Geotech Engineers to join and grow our team.

Responsibilities:
Actively encourage and demonstrate a culture of safety leadership.
Carrying out the collection and processing of consistent and high-quality OC structural and geotechnical mapping, geotechnical core logging and rock mass classification.
Provide geotechnical input into the mine planning design process.
Carrying out geotechnical inspections of exposed ground conditions in the pit, comparing against the most up-to-date Mining Rock Mass Model (MRMM) for weekly pre-planning for new mining area.
Ensuring the production and Mining team adheres to the approved mine ground control management procedures i.e TARP, GCMP, Pit wall procedure, Trim blast.
Ensure that design parameters (slope angles, safety berms, etc) during development are conform with design and the ground condition (Dumps and Pit).
Coordinate with the mining team and especially the drill & blast engineer to embrace the best mining practices relating to slope stability to maintaining the bench retention capacity over of 80% and a face condition rating over of 80%
Make sure the post Blast clean-up of floors and final walls including removal of remnant toes in compliance to stipulated mining levels it completed
Provide geotechnical support to mining operations, particularly if there is an incident, issues or concerns are raised with regard to ground conditions on the slope.
Inspect, investigate, and report all rock falls (fall of ground)
Regular data entry of the relevant geotechnical data and information into the Kibali Stope Performance Database
Appropriate design criteria are developed to support the mine design, planning and sequencing in a timely manner.
Carrying out the geotechnical weekly report with assistance of Senior Geotechnical Engineer – regular reporting on the completed geotechnical activities, ground control audit results and progress of any agreed actions, and results from any monitoring programs
Attend weekly safety mass meeting.
Provide regular, ongoing assistance and guidance to the Junior Geotechnical Engineer.
Knowledge/Skills & Competencies Requirements:
Knowledge of open pit mining techniques and trackless equipment employed.
Knowledge of geotechnical software such as RS2, RS3, SLIDE3, SLIDE2, DIPS, ROCSLOPE3 & 2, RocData.
Knowledge of mine design software such as, Deswik CAD, Leapfrog Geo.
Good interpersonal skills.
Sound judgement and analytical skills.
Task and results driven
Qualifications & Experience Requirements:
Tertiary qualification in Mining / Geotechnical / Geological Engineering
Minimum 3 years’ experience in Open pit mining.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience as an Open pit Geotechnical Engineer would also be an advantage.
Good understanding of mining processes.
Have a Driver’s License or obtain one within 3 months of service.
