Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Junior Environmental Site Assessment and Remediation Engineer (in training) to join our team! In this role you will get to support growth of Parsons’ remediation technology service offerings (PFAS remediation, AFFF cleanouts, thermal remediation) and to support the existing traditional investigations and remediation consulting services. 

What You'll Be Doing:

The responsibilities for this position will include providing technical support of our technical lead on remediation modeling, estimating, design and construction of Parsons’ proprietary remediation systems.  The remainder of your responsibilities will be supporting our traditional consulting business which includes coordinating soil and groundwater investigations and delivering reports for environmental site investigation (ESA).  Specific primary job description includes but is not limited to the following: 

Develop and manage project spreadsheets for modeling and data analysis Produce design drawings and packets for assigned projects Attend proposal and project meetings, take minutes and advance action items  Support process optimizations and leverage new technology: new software implementation, data visualization, database enhancements, AI implementation, forms digitization Support field work for Remediation Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments Remedial planning and site remediation oversight and coordination including excavations and various in-situ methodologies with the support of senior professionals Support commissioning and operation of remediation systems as required. Systems may be anywhere in Canada.  Over time, field assignments for installation and operation of remediations may require travel of up to 25-50% of your time. Learn, respect, advocate, train and improve our project processes that may be required by Parsons and/or clients.  These processes may be related to fieldwork and project scheduling, reporting, data processing, health and safety management, training, and others. 

 

What Required Skills You'll Bring: 

Bachelor's Degree (4 Year) in environmental, chemical, process or mechanical engineering or similar engineering programs Some experience in technical, engineering or consulting work Strong understanding geological and hydrogeological and chemical and process engineering principles that support remediation planning and design (i.e. flow through porous media, mass transfer, thermal dynamics) Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude, experience with pumps, mixers, reactors, etc. Aptitude for computer software and applications, including SQL databases, queries, programming language, modeling, ArcGIS, Power Automate, and fluency in standard Microsoft packages including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Process oriented, including adherence to rigorous client and Parsons processes and policies including but not exclusive to reporting, health and safety, procurement, human resources and IT. Track record of delivering high quality work products and attention to detail. Strong technical writing abilities.   Ability to travel primarily within Canada Ability to interpret and analyze technical reports and publications Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with staff of various roles from field to leadership teams. 

 

What Desired Skills You'll Bring: 

Eligible to obtain a Professional Engineering License (P.Eng.) Enthusiastic, proven ability to apply academic and theoretical concepts, and able to work autonomously Demonstrated knowledge of the environmental remediation industry, including various remediation technologies. Proficient in AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT. Broad environmental and engineering knowledge related to consulting project delivery. Technology and software-savvy to apply concepts of databases, GIS, AI tools, and other software packages. Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and motivation to learn new topics, including through self-directed study. An engaging personality to lead activities for social and team-building events We are always looking for those with leadership potential that are coachable, collaborate effectively with various levels and personalities, and are committed to supporting and uplifting others
