We are currently seeking an entry level Junior Engineer for a growing list of projects involving hearing science, microplastics research, and sensor development/deployment. These projects will require close coordination with subject matter experts and customers to develop novel research methods and optimize existing measurement capabilities. Candidates must be eager to learn and work effectively with diverse teams, including peers, clients, and stakeholders. Candidates applying for this position must be a US citizen and be able to obtain a security clearance.
What you’ll do as an ARA Junior Engineer:
Acquire in-depth understanding of electroacoustic evaluation methods of hearing protection devices. Develop and validate approaches and prototypes to solve program-specific technical problems. Apply analytical techniques and utilize and benchtop testing equipment to develop, troubleshoot, optimize, and document novel test methods and prototypes. Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors, ensuring clear and timely communication. In partnership with project managers and technical leaders, develop, plan, and execute goals that align with client objectives and ensure timely, quality deliverables. Participate in regular, client-facing meetings to summarize progress and facilitate technical discussion. Contribute to technical writing, including reports, standard operating procedures, and proposals. Serve as a technical resource for other engineers and scientists within the company.
REQUIREMENTS
B.S. or higher in acoustics, physics, audiology, engineering, or a related field 0-2 years of relevant experience (or equivalent) US Citizen Currently hold or have the ability to obtain a security clearance Available for on-site or hybrid work at ARA’s Littleton, CO facility Willing to periodically travel to ARA offices, subcontractor sites, and customer locations
PREFERRED SKILLS
Experience in hearing injury, psychoacoustic perception, and/or general acoustics. Designing and/or conducting laboratory-scale tests with test and measurement software such as LabVIEW or MATLAB. Understanding of and experience with circuit diagrams, data sheets, sensors (microphones, hydrophones, accelerometers, etc.), ultrasonic transducers, microcontrollers, data acquisition systems, soldering, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and/or signal generators. Prototype design and development utilizing SolidWorks and/or 3D printing methods. Data analysis using signal processing and/or advanced statistics, specifically with MATLAB. Familiarity with ISO/ANSI/ASTM/MIL standards. Evidence of strong written and verbal communication through reports, peer-reviewed publications, and/or conference presentations. Ability to work well within a team and independently.
