Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Shell and Masonry Contractor Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for construction projects, focusing on shell and masonry components. This role requires a deep understanding of construction processes, materials, and labor costs, as well as strong analytical and communication skills.
Role and Responsibilities
Project Analysis: Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to understand the scope of work and identify shell and masonry requirements. Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed cost estimates, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor expenses, for shell and masonry work. Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination: Solicit and evaluate bids from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive and accurate pricing. Quantity Takeoffs: Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for all masonry and shell components, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Budget Development: Assist in developing project budgets and providing recommendations for cost-effective solutions. Proposal Preparation: Prepare and present proposals to clients, clearly outlining scope, pricing, and timelines. Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to ensure alignment on project requirements and expectations. Market Research: Stay updated on industry trends, material costs, and labor rates to ensure competitive and accurate estimates. Documentation: Maintain thorough records of estimates, proposals, and related correspondence for future reference. Performs any other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Proven experience as an Estimator, preferably in shell and masonry construction. Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and processes related to masonry and shell work. Proficiency in estimating software and tools (e.g., Bluebeam, Onscreen takeoff, or similar). Excellent mathematical and analytical skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Effective communication and negotiation skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Familiarity with building codes and regulations.
Preferred Skills
Experience with project management or construction supervision. Knowledge of AutoCAD or other design software. Certification in construction estimating or a related field.
