Job Title: Journeyman Welder - Charge Hand
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Journeyman Welder to join our team and contribute to the fabrication, repair, and assembly of metal structures and components. The ideal candidate will bring a high level of craftsmanship, technical expertise, leadership, and commitment to safety, delivering work that meets industry standards and project specifications.
Work Environment
This is a full-time union position under the United Steelworkers Local 2009. The role involves working in a structured environment with modern facilities and equipment. Employees are expected to adhere to safety standards and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Responsibilities
Perform safe and efficient set-ups.Ensure the quality and quantity of work produced in the department.Meet production targets and maintain high-quality workmanship.Resolve set-up problems and perform basic equipment repairs and maintenance.Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area and department.Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.Essential Skills
Journeyman welder certification or equivalent recognized credential.Minimum of 5 years of welding experience in industrial, structural, or manufacturing settings.Experience in MCAW, GTAW, or FCAW welding in stainless steel, steel, and aluminum.Proficient in visual and load testing inspection and troubleshooting.Understanding of Canadian welding standards.Ability to read and understand weld symbols.Strong blueprint and document control experience.Fluency in dimensional math in both imperial and metric systems.Proficient in the use of measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and weld gauges.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Understanding of Canadian food safety standards is considered an asset.Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.Ability to process multiple job orders while maintaining scheduled delivery, attendance, punctuality, and a strong safety track record.Why Work Here?
