Position Overview
The general role of a Journeyman Construction Electrician is to work in conjunction with Electricians and Electrical Foreman to install, maintain, and repair various electrical components within customer locations. This position will lead and mentor entry level electricians such as Electrical Assistants.
This individual will work with both low and medium voltage electrical applications, and work in a wide array of industries including Construction, Manufacturing, Power Plants, Commercial, Aggregate, Oil and Gas, Coal, Wind Energy, etc. This position must be flexible and willing to travel with overnight stays and work extended hours as needed.
The Journeyman Electrician will report to the Department Manager - Electrical and will work primarily at the field project locations.
What You'll Do Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in industrial facilitiesInstall basic and more complex electrical components such as motor control centers, transformers, instrumentation, switch gear, PLC controls, etc.Run a variety of styles and sizes of conduit and cable trays to electrical devicesPull wire to termination boxes, panels, and other controllersLoad and unload tools, materials, equipment, etc.Read and follow electrical code, manuals, wiring and circuitry diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and other electrical specificationsTrouble-shoot, diagnose, and repair electrical issues, systems, and components independently with minimal direction and supervisionDrive ground rods and install grounding gridsUtilize hand tools, power tools, and electrical equipment pertinent to the electrical tradeAssess jobs as needed to determine material, tool, and equipment needsCommunicate and coordinate with Foreman and/or Superintendent to ensure successful job completionAssist with paperwork and documentation for accurate record keepingLead and mentor entry level electricians such as Electrical AssistantsWorking Conditions
Work in confined spacesWork indoors and outdoors in all types of weatherPerform duties on-site and underground at industrial locations What You'll Bring 4+ years of electrical construction experience preferredExperience in industrial electrical construction requiredValid Driver’s License requiredPossess a Journeyman License (NM Preferred) or required to obtain NM Journeyman License within 3 months from hirePossess proficient knowledge of NEC (National Electrical Code), electrical theory, and AC and DC circuitsAbility to utilize tools and diagnostic devices relevant to the electrical tradeAbility to read and interpret electrical drawings, circuitry, and schematicsAbility to communicate effectively both verbally and in writingMust be dependable; trustworthy; and possess a positive and productive attitudeAbility to communicate effectively both verbally and in writingAbility to work well with others and act in a respectful manner towards co-workers and customersAbility to perform mathematical calculations accuratelyAbility to take accurate measurementsPossess an aptitude for leadership and customer serviceCompetent with email and text messagingMust understand NFPA 70e Electrical Safety Standards (Arc Flash)
