Job Description
The Joint Venture Project Accountant manages the full-cycle billing process for joint venture projects, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing in accordance with complex contract terms. This role works closely with project managers and joint venture stakeholders to compile labor, expense, and subcontractor data, allocate costs across entities, and maintain detailed billing schedules and reconciliations. The position offers a fully remote work arrangement and the opportunity to contribute to large engineering or architecture projects with significant annual revenue.
ResponsibilitiesManage the full-cycle billing process for joint venture projects from data collection through final invoice issuance.Prepare accurate and timely invoices in strict accordance with contract terms and joint venture agreements.Partner closely with project managers and joint venture stakeholders to gather and validate labor, expense, and subcontractor data.Compile, review, and reconcile project billing data to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with contractual requirements.Allocate costs appropriately across joint venture entities, ensuring proper distribution of labor, expenses, and subcontractor charges.Maintain detailed billing schedules and supporting documentation to provide clear audit trails and transparency for all billed amounts.Perform regular reconciliations of billed versus actual costs and resolve discrepancies in collaboration with project teams.Review contracts and change orders to understand billing terms, milestones, and special conditions impacting invoicing.Leverage large-scale ERP systems to enter, track, and report project billing transactions for joint venture projects.Use Excel pivot tables and VLOOKUPs to analyze billing data, validate allocations, and support management reporting.Communicate billing status, issues, and variances to project managers and joint venture partners in a clear and timely manner.Support continuous improvement of billing processes and controls to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and consistency across projects.Essential Skills5+ years of project billing experience specifically supporting joint venture projects.Demonstrated experience managing billing for engineering or architecture companies with revenue over $100 million.Strong knowledge of joint venture billing structures, cost allocation, and contract-based invoicing.Proficiency creating and using pivot tables in Excel to analyze and summarize billing data.Proficiency using VLOOKUP functions in Excel to validate and reconcile billing and cost information.Experience working within large-scale ERP systems such as Deltek, SAGE, SAP, Oracle, or comparable platforms.Ability to review and interpret contracts and billing terms to ensure accurate invoicing.Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling complex billing data and reconciliations.Effective communication skills to collaborate with project managers and joint venture stakeholders in a remote environment.Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and billing cycles simultaneously.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with Deltek Vantagepoint or similar Deltek platforms.Prior exposure to project billing in professional services environments, particularly engineering or architecture.Ability to work independently in a fully remote setting while maintaining accountability and meeting deadlines.Comfort working with large data sets and complex billing structures.Proactive approach to identifying process improvements in billing and reporting.Work Environment
This role operates in a 100% remote work environment and supports collaboration across any time zone. You will work with large-scale ERP systems such as Deltek, SAGE, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms, and rely heavily on Excel tools including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs. The position supports large engineering or architecture projects, offering exposure to complex joint venture structures and high-revenue engagements. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $33.00 - $38.50/hr.
