**In this position...**
Body Construction Engineering Joining Supervisor is responsible to lead a team of engineers that are responsible for all manufacturing standards and practices as it relates to vehicle joining. This includes welding, mechanical, dispensing & fastening joining applications.
This role is responsible for all new model programs from design though vehicle launch. This role also has technical oversight for current model vehicle programs.
**What you'll do...**
Lead and supervise a team of Joining Engineers, including:
+ Lead the joining activities for New Model Launches
+ Launch joining tooling and new technologies with 100% effectiveness
+ Assist joining team members and plants with developing robust joining quality control plans
+ Ensure up-front enablers are provided on launch for plant control plan execution
+ Develop new joining technologies that are robust for high-volume production applications
+ Support the development of new Global Engineering Specifications as required with Product Development and Research counterparts
+ Assess joining feasibility through Global Product Development System (GPDS) milestones
+ Manage the Ford to Furnish (FTF) process for joining equipment
+ Provide technical expertise for plant and supplier quality issues
+ Manage 3 rd party plant joining audits and drive implementation of corrective actions
+ Author and update Global Vehicle Operations Structures Standards (GVOSS) for joining processes
+ Lead joining-related investment efficiency initiatives, develop joining equipment bid specifications, and select suppliers that meet product, process, quality, and cost objectives
+ Work with existing joining equipment suppliers on quality and cost improvements
+ Assist Manufacturing Engineers with resolution to Global Manufacturing Requirement (GMR) open issues
+ Document joining-related lessons learned
+ Develop and update joining-related Global Manufacturing Requirements (GMR)
+ Domestic Travel may be required.
**You'll have...**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
+ Strong leadership and liaison experience to lead a multi-discipline team
+ Knowledge of welding and joining industry standards
+ Experience with automotive body construction methods and product launches
+ Familiarity with existing automotive body joining technologies – welding, adhesive bonding, and mechanical joining
+ Exemplary written and oral communication skills
+ Strong interpersonal skills
