We’re looking for a Jira Administrator / Junior Atlassian Engineer with strong analytical skills and a keen desire to primarily support Jira , Confluence & JSM and learn while developing, implementing software solutions and as part of our Engineering Excellence team.

Our Mission: Increase efficiency and agility across engineering teams enabling them to mobilise quickly and deliver quality, secure, right first-time features for our customers at reduced costs.

Enable operations teams to pro-actively monitor and quickly report across critical systems.

A Jira Administrator / Junior Atlassian Engineer reports into the Engineering Manager and contributes to the delivery of our mission through a combination of design, build & implementation activity together with working alongside multiple engineering teams across the department, supporting them to adopt new ways of working. The role will involve strong collaboration with others - be it learning from examples of existing great engineering work, collaborating with others to create it or mentoring engineers to use it.

This role will initially focus almost exclusively on Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management ways of working, development, configuration and support, and over time evolve to include the wider goals of the team.

Administer technical solutions, projects & spaces created by Jira, Confluence, JSM and their associated plugins.Support upgrades to the Atlassian toolsetSupport User access / JML processesContribute to the development of key system-wide customisationsTrain and guide various levels of users within the businessProvide technical support to end users to help address system queries & issuesMaintain documentation to aid in queries

General

Contribute to Licence management of Atlassian and other softwareWork under guidance of Software Engineers to understand problems, analyse requirements & deliver solutions that enhance engineering productivityWrite code for low latency, highly available and scalable solutionsContribute to delivering initiatives to improve system observability, incident response processes and operational efficiencyContinually update technical knowledge and skills using internal training as well taking time to self-develop utilising external sourcesChampion a culture of continuous learning, experimentation and innovation within the departmentWhat You’ll NeedHands-on experience in Jira / Confluence Administration (Project setup including Customisation)Familiarity with Jira scripting languages (JQL, Groovy) and Jira APIsYou will be familiar with at least one of the technologies used in Asda’s wider technology landscape React native/JS, JAVA, C#, .NET, Azure SQLHave experience / knowledge within a modern software engineering role including use of automation and the CICD toolchainHave experience working to an Agile methodology (e.g. XP, Kanban, Scrum, SAFe)Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Knowledge of tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation for managing and provisioning infrastructure is a bonusPro-active, enthusiastic, conscientious, detail-oriented and able to work well under general guidanceHighly resilient, employing a relentless can-do attitude in the face of adversityStrong analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skillsAble to discuss technical information with both technical and non-technical colleaguesAble to identify and manage risks through to resolutionExcellent communication and collaboration skillsAtlassian Certifications would be an advantageEverything you'll love
