Java Senior Manager of Software Engineering

As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorganChase within the Commercial & Investment Bank, you serve in a leadership role by providing technical coaching and advisory for multiple technical teams, as well as anticipate the needs and potential dependencies of other functions within the firm. As an expert in your field, your insights influence budget and technical considerations to advance operational efficiencies and functionalities.
**Job responsibilities**
+ Provide overall direction, oversight, and coaching for a team of entry-level to mid-level software engineers that work on basic to moderately complex tasks
+ Be accountable for decisions that influence teams' resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures
+ Ensures successful collaboration across teams and stakeholders
+ Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
+ Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
+ Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
+ Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
+ Interpret technical and business objectives, identifying challenges and providing innovative solutions to address them
+ Identifies and mitigates issues to execute a book of work while escalating issues as necessary
+ Provides input to leadership regarding budget, approach, and technical considerations to improve operational efficiencies and functionality for the team
+ Creates a culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect for team members and prioritizes diverse representation
**Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills**
+ Formal training or certification on Software Engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
+ Experience leading teams of technologists to manage and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise
+ Deep expertise in core Java, Spring Boot, J2EE, Messaging Systems (MQ), Oracle, Postgres, Dapr, Flink, Kafka and Apache Iceberg
+ Experience in writing and maintaining REST / SOAP Based APIs
+ Strong background in Database Management, Web Services, Databricks and Oracle SQL
+ Understanding of observability tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, or Grafana
+ Demonstrated ability to debug complex systems and drive technical discussions independently
+ Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods
+ Ability to guide and coach teams on approach to achieve goals aligned against a set of strategic initiatives
+ Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent
**Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills**
+ Strong experience with cloud-native microservices architecture
+ Exposure to full software development lifecycle in large-scale systems, preferably within the financial industry
+ Experience with Sanctions Domain and/or familiarity with Sanctions Screening solutions, Pega PRPC workflows
+ Understanding of Data platforms such as Databricks or Snowflake
